Frequently asked questions

General

Who does Ask Adrian work with?

We work with established small and medium enterprises that have an operating business, a team, and a goal they want to move forward. You might be trying to grow sales, improve reporting, or give your managers more ownership so fewer decisions land on your desk. You can come to us with a defined project or a problem you’re still trying to understand.

What if I know what I want to achieve, but I’m unsure where to start?

Tell us what you want to change and what you’ve tried so far. If your goal is to make the business less dependent on you, for example, we’ll look at which decisions still need your approval, where work gets delayed, and what your team would need to take more ownership. From there, we agree on the first change to make, who will lead it, and how to track progress.

How do you decide what needs to change?

We look at what your numbers show alongside what your team experiences day to day. A stalled sales pipeline could reflect weak demand, slow quote approvals, or limited capacity to take on new work. Looking at how those parts of the business affect each other helps us identify what to investigate and recommend a change that addresses the cause.

Services & engagements

Which service should I start with?

The Business Growth & Operations Review helps you decide what to fix first. A Focused Improvement Sprint suits a defined problem you’re ready to act on. Ongoing Growth & Operations Advisory gives your leadership team regular support with decisions, performance reviews, and follow-through. If the work spans several teams or needs specialist input, we can prepare a Custom Quotation.

Can we start with a review and carry out the recommendations ourselves?

Yes. The review is a standalone engagement. You’ll receive a findings report and an editable 30-day action plan your team can use. If you’d like help implementing one of the recommendations, we can scope and quote that work separately.

Can you help us implement the recommendations?

Yes. In a Focused Improvement Sprint, we work with your team to put one agreed change into practice. That could mean redesigning a workflow, building a reporting dashboard, or setting up a partnership pipeline. Where possible, we test the change with the people who will use it and hand over the tools they need to keep it working.

What can we realistically get done in a S$4,500 sprint?

At the starting price, a sprint focuses on one clearly defined problem. For example, we might set up a weekly management report for one team using data you already collect. We’d agree on the measures, build the reporting template, test it with your team, and hand it over. If the work involves several teams, new systems, or specialist input, we’ll explain how that affects the scope and quote.

What does the monthly advisory fee cover between meetings?

The starting package includes four 45-minute leadership sessions and up to 18 hours of support per month in total. That time covers meetings, preparation, performance analysis, and agreed work between sessions, such as reviewing a partnership proposal or assessing a supplier option. You’ll also have a scorecard, a priorities tracker, and a monthly progress summary.

What happens if we discover the project needs more work than planned?

We’ll explain what we’ve found, what it means for the agreed work, and what options you have. If a change affects the fee or timeline, we’ll agree it with you before starting the additional work. That includes bringing in a specialist whose contribution wasn’t part of the original scope.

Working together

Who will I work with?

Adrian leads each engagement and remains your main point of contact. Depending on your industry and the work involved, he brings in qualified, experienced specialists from our team and wider network. An accounting specialist might help interpret your management accounts, while a software product specialist might help define what a new system needs to do. Before work begins, we’ll agree on who’s involved, what they’ll deliver, and what it will cost.

Can we work together online or on site?

Yes. We can meet online, work at your premises, or combine both. Online sessions work well for reviewing performance and making decisions. On-site sessions are useful for observing a workflow, running a team workshop, or testing a change in the workplace. We’ll agree on the format when we scope the work.

What will you need from us?

We’ll ask for information relevant to the work, such as an existing management report, a sales pipeline export, or a walkthrough of how your team handles a process. If your records are incomplete, we’ll explain what we can assess with what’s available. We’ll agree on who needs access to sensitive information before sharing it with any specialist.

How will we know whether the work is helping?

We agree on what to measure and record the starting point where possible. For a reporting project, that might mean tracking how long it takes to prepare the weekly report and whether managers get it in time to make decisions. At handover, we review what’s working and what your team should continue to track.
